Recently, ZnO based Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) has attracted so much attention since ZnO has a very similar electronic structure to TiO2 including the positions of valence and conduction band edge and band gap. In contrast to TiO2, ZnO is apt to fabricate diverse nanostructures such as nanorods, nano-sphere clusters and thus to control the semiconducting electrode surface properties. Despite the surface instability of ZnO against the sensitizing molecules which are essentially weak acids, those nanostructured electrode morphologies were found out very effective to improve the photovoltaic performances. We have tried to introduce various types of nanostructures to ZnO electrodes and characterized their PV properties. Various hydrothermal methods were used for ZnO syntheses, and the ZnO films were investigated with SEM, TEM and XRD. ZnO-DSCs were studied by I-V measurement, IPCE spectra, and AC-impedance spectra. In this talk, results focused on oriented simple, or branched ZnO nanorod array, and ZnO nanoball electrodes are to be presented, |
