This work reports on the preparation of surface-modified TiO2 photoanodes by dip coating process and effects on the photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Nanoporous TiO2 photoanodes were immersed into the aqueous potassium nitrate (KNO3) solution, and the resulting photoanodes were applied to DSSCs. DSSC with KNO3-modified photoanode showed an enhancement in open circuit voltage and short circuit current, resulting in a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 6.79% compared to that (6.26%) of reference device with bare TiO2. The origin of the improvement in PCE was revealed through measurements of dark current, open circuit voltage decay and impedance. |
