In this work, we fabricated transparent electrospun (poly)vinyl alcohol (PVA) for the sake of artificial three-dimensional neuronal cell culture scaffold. We quantitatively controlled the PVA hydrogel fiber diameter and density, which critically related to the optical refractive index, and found gelation phase diagram correlated with crosslinking conditions. Our scaffold exhibited decent optical transparency and enlarged porosity that is enabling interrogation of three-dimensional neuronal network formation with detailed synaptic connections. |
