The studies on bio-mimetic membrane as a reaction front of biological cells will have great benefit to understand the effect of biological reaction at the membrane properties. In this talk, in order to mimic the biological membranes, self-assembled multilayers and bilayers composed of differently charged phospholipids with different molar ratio were prepared by the self-assembly method. Neutron and X-ray reflectivity were used to investigate the effect of composition on the structure of the bio-membranes in a nanometer scale. We could monitor structural changes as a function of mixing ratio. Due to the presence of different charge distribution, phase separation can be observed, which may be resulted from the formation of large complexes. Further, the specific kinetics and interaction between the charged membrane and peptide-coated nanoparticles will be discussed. Financial support from KAERI and BAERI are greatly acknowledged. |
