제목 Effect of low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound on Hydrogels for Bone Regeneration
초록 Ultrasound or the application of acoustic energy is a minimally invasive technique that has been used in diagnostic, surgical, imaging, and therapeutic applications. Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) has been used to convert physical stimuli into biochemical stimuli in the body to accelerate bone fracture recovery. In this study, in situ-gelling alginate, hyaluronic acid, and their mixture hydrogels were injected into rat skull bone defect sites and applied the LIPUS to investigate the effect of ultrasound stimulation on the hydrogels for bone regeneration. The bone regeneration among the hydrogels with or without ultrasound stimulation was evaluated using Micro-CT and Masson’s trichrome staining. From the results, it was observed that the alginate/hyaluronic acid mixture (1:1) hydrogel group with ultrasound stimulation was effective for bone regeneration than other groups.
