In this study, the preparation of antimicrobial biodegradable polymer nanocomposites by radiation processing is described. Biodegradable polymer films containing silver trifluoroacetate as a precursor for silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared by a solvent casting method and then irradiated by electron beams at various doses. The results of the UV-VIS and FE-SEM with EDX analyses revealed that Ag NPs were successfully formed in the irradiated films. Furthermore, based on the results of the antimicrobial test through disk diffusion and colony counting tests, the irradiated films containing Ag NPs exhibited an antimicrobial property. |
