Acid-responsive 1D photonic crystal polymer films |

High refractive index polymer and a novel acid responsive low refractive index polymers were synthesized by free radical polymerization. 1D photonic crystal polymer (1DPC) thin films were fabricated with high and low refractive index polymers by simple solution processes. Photonic stop band(PSB) of 1D PC films could be modulated through the entire visible range by control thickness of polymer layers. When 1D PC films expose to inorganic acid (HF, HCl and HBr), PSB of films shifted different extend toward each inorganic acid. And, the color change of films could be visually observed without any monitoring system and external power. The change of the PSB of films were analyzed by UV-Visble spectrometer. |
