Biodegradable polymers as glycolide and lactide-based (co)polymers are extensively applied in stent coating materials during last decade for the control of drug eluting profile. However, these materials are not effective for stent coating material because of their weak elastic properties. For this reason, we examined the synthesis of biodegradable elastomer on stent struts and balloon by ultrasonic coating. The biodegradable elastomer were prepared by polycondensation reaction of glycol(or pentaerythritol) and sebacic acid. Syhthesized poly(glycerol sebacate(PGS) and poly(pentaerythritol sebacate)(PPS) have elasticity and biocompatibility, their properties are suitable for stent in situ coating material for the stent in order to apply clinical field. In the PPS structure, there are lot of unreacted hydroxyl group. Therefore, PPS will be expected to show good coating feature on stent and good adhesive profile through H-bonds to a variety of polar surfaces. PPS can be elongated about 140% of its original length without rupture. |
