Adaptive random search optimization in process design. II. Examples of applications in process engineering
A detailed analysis of stochastic optimisation method called adaptive random search (ARS) has been given in part I [1] Also, a detailed description of so called M-LJ algorithm developed by the authors has been presented. The algorithm accounts for mixed integer non-linear programming problems. The examples solved are non-linear problems with continuous or mixed integer variables. It is shown that simple ARS method is able to solve practical problems of process engineering. Many optimisation problems from the literature have been solved here using novel formulations that allowed reaching high robustness in respect of determining global optimum.
