Modelling of hydrodynamics of ribbon impellers in laminar flow regime
A two-dimensional hydrodynamic model of liquid flow in the tank for ribbon impellers operating in a laminar regime is proposed. It is assumed that there is no velocity distribution in the tank in the peripheral direction. The impeller region is treated as a special region where relationships between the impeller ribbon and liquid are taken into account. As a result of computer simulations. a numerical solution of the system of motion equations and continuity equations was obtained. The model solution can be used to calculate the distribution of three velocity components in the tank, power demand, axial forces and primary and secondary circulation in the tank. Peripheral and axial velocity distributions, power demand and axial forces acting upon the impeller ribbon were also determined in the study. They revealed satisfactory agreement with theoretical values.
