Measurements and simulation of gas flow through composite aerogel-glass fibre mat
This work describes simulated and experimental results of measurements of flow resistance of gases through composite aerogel filters. Helium, nitrogen and carbon dioxide were used. Aerogels of three different densities supported by and two glass mats of different densities were used. The experimental results were compared to theoretical results obtained on the basis of numerical simulation of gas flow through aerogel modelled by the three-dimensional diffusion-limited cluster-cluster aggregation (DLCCA) model.
