A study of transitional and turbulent boundary flows in a stirred tank II. Numerical modelling of the turbulent flow
Numerical modelling of momentum transfer in a stirred tank has been described. A commercial CFD package and the standard k-epsilon turbulence model were used in the simulations. Ile predicted values of the axial and tangential velocity components and of the kinetic turbulence energy have been compared with those from experiments for the wall stream. The model values have been underestimated by about 30% as compared with the experimental.
