The kinetics of the esterification of methacrylic acid with lower aliphatic alcohols
The kinetics of esterification of methacrylic acid with methyl and ethyl alcohols using sulphuric acid as a catalyst (0.5-4 wt. %) has been studied. The experiments were carried out in an isothermal batch reactor with the initial molar ratio of alcohol to acrylic acid equal to 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1, within the range of temperatures from 25 to 85 degreesC. The kinetic equations and their parameters have been determined.
