The photosensitized oxidation of 2-chlorophenol in a homogeneous aqueous solution using rose bengal as a sensitizer was investigated. The influence of initial 2CP concentration and pH on reaction rate was observed. Basing on the kinetic model the rate constants of singlet oxygen quenching and reaction with 2CP and excited sensitizer quenching by 2CP were determined.
