Influence of syngas composition on Fe2O3 -> FeO topochemical reaction reduction kinetics
The kinetics of Fe2O3 --> FeO reduction by syngas of selected compositions (N-2/CO/H-2) in T = 700-900degreesC was investigated. Hancock-Sharp method, based on Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Erofeev's equation was applied. Both surface-boundary-controlled reaction and surface nucleation mechanisms control the kinetics at the initial stage of the process. The reaction's rate increases with T and H-2 content. The activation energies for selected syngas compositions were elaborated. Artificial Neural Network was applied for alternative process modeling in the same parameters' range.
