A model of capillary adhesion forces in a microscopic scale
A model of capillary adhesion forces between powder particles of intermediate size has been proposed. A new element is taking into consideration microgeometrical parameters resulting from surface roughness. The model allows one to identify the parameters characterizing adhesion contact of rough surfaces. It also enables determination of critical humidity of environmental air, above which a sudden increase of adhesion forces in powder bed can be observed and loss of process control may occur.
