Mixing effects in agglomerative precipitation of benzoic acid in a continuous stirred tank
The process of precipitation of benzoic acid in a continuous stirred tank reactor is considered. The work concentrates on the description of the agglomeration kernel. For this purpose, a classification of the dispersed systems is proposed, and phenomena related to aggregation mechanisms are analyzed. The model combining collision kernel with the agglomeration efficiency is proposed and applied in the complex mixing-precipitation model, which includes CFD simulations. The model is verified using experimental data.
