Modelling of heat transfer in static mixers
The CFD modelling of heat transfer in the Kenics and SMX static mixers, both in the laminar and turbulent flow regimes, has been presented. Two numerical grids with different densities were generated for each of the mixers. The standard k-epsilon turbulence model along with one of the two near-wall region models for the turbulent flow range was used. A good agreement between the experimental and the predicted values of the heat transfer coefficient was obtained.
