Kinetics of syntheses of methyl and ethyl methacrylates using molybdophosphoric acid as a catalyst
The kinetics of the esterification of methacrylic acid with methanol and ethanol in the liquid phase was studied by using molybdophosphoric acid as a catalyst. Reactions were carried out in a batch reactor at various temperatures, molar ratios of substrates and catalyst concentrations. The rate equations, reaction rate constants and equilibrium constants have been determined.
