Liquid densities, related volumetric properties, and refractive indices of binary mixtures for the dimethyl ether of a glycol plus water from T=288.15K to 318.15K
Densities and refractive indices of {x(1) CH3(OCH2CH2)(v) OCH3 + (1 - x(1)) H2O} for v = 1-4 at T = (288.15K, 298.15K, 308.15K, and 318.15K) were measured over the entire mole-fraction range. The density measurements were made by means of a vibrating-tube densimeter. Refractive indices were measured using a digital refractometer. From experience mental densities, some related volume properties, such as excess molar volumes, V, partial excess molar volumes, and the limiting partial molar volumes and of the limiting partial excess molar volumes of the components were derived. The excess molar volumes were negative in every case. Their values increased as v of the glycol increased with x(1) > 0.4 and increased with increasing temperature except for the system of v = 1 for the glycol with x(1) > 0.5. The deviations in the refractive index as a function of the mole fraction, and, were calculated from the experimental refractive index data. Phenomena similar to those of V-E were observed for Deltan(D). The results for the excess molar volumes and deviations in the refractive indices as a function of composition were fitted to the Redlich-Kister equation.
