Detachment behavior of a sessile bubble on a solid wall due to the transition from normal gravity to microgravity
A sessile bubble on a horizontal solid wall detaches from it when the gravity level transits from normal to microgravity. The bubble migrates downward through the surrounding liquid, and the bubble velocity gradually approaches zero due to the liquid drag force. Theoretical results of the migration distance predicted by using the energy balance equation were in reasonable agreement with those of our experiments carried out on the MGLAB (Microgravity Laboratory of Japan) drop-shaft.
