Pretreatment of polyamide surfaces with low pressure plasma
Plasma pretreatment increases the tensile shear strength of adhesive bonded jonts between Polyamide 66 and AlMg 4,5 Mn 0,4 sheets up to two times compared with the only degreased condition. Similar improvements were stated in case of peel testing of joints between the same plastic and mild steel. In case of PU-adhasive the fracture toke place within the adhesive, whereas in case of EP-glue preferably at the interface between plastic and adhesive. With the process of O2 the change of topography and surface tension by plasmatreatment is much more intensive than in case of Argon.
