Chlorosulfonated polyethylene elastomers containing zinc oxide incorporated on SiO2
The possibility of the usage of a new filler with "core-shell" structure (ZnO/ SiO2) as cross-linking substance for the rubber was studied. It appeared that zinc oxide deposed on the silica surface is more effective cross-linking agent than ZnO introduced alone into the rubber mix during its preparation. Using silica modified with zinc oxide for chlorosulfonated polyethylene curing led to formation non-covalent network bonds. Due to that ZnO/SiO2 is improving in the mechanical properties - higher modulus, tensile strength of the vulcanizates and rate of physical relaxation at room temperature.
