The computer model for designing slit dies and spiral manifold dies taking into account the entire flow path has been successfully transferred to industrial use. This model allows determination of the melt distribution in the individual die designs as a function of the flow properties of the melts being processed. The effects of the regions connected to the manifold channel, such as restrictor bars, parallel guides or relaxation zones are also included in the analysis.
