Lightweight and corrosion-resistant
Fibre-reinforced Plastics. The use of fibre- reinforced plastics in land vehicles could have advantages over metals on account of the high potential they offer for lightweight construction and their excellent corrosion resistance. A precondition for this, however, is that both the manufacturing costs and the damage tolerance vis-a-vis stressing under the action of force must correspond approximately to those for a metal construction.
