Naturally better
FIBRE-REINFORCED PLASTICS. With hemp, sisal etc. in a polyurethane matrix, large-format mouldings can be produced that are on a par with their glass fibre-reinforced equivalents. In the ideal case, the lower intrinsic weight of natural fibres can even achieve weight savings of up to 15%. However, so far there have been restrictions due to the handling of natural fibre mats. The development of the NFI process nowallows more economical natural fibre rovings to be used in a spray layup process.
