Homogeneous melt distribution through rotation
A novel die concept for extrusion of pipe and film is presented. During extrusion, melt is distributed within the die by a rotating element that is kept in motion by the flowing melt. With this die design, it is possible to achieve a homogeneous melt distribution and obscure weld lines via rotation of the die geometry. Residence times within the die are minimised and die pressure requirements are reduced. Additional benefits of the concept include its modular construction, small die volume and universal applicability.
