Polymorphology of sodium niobate based on two different bidentate organics
In this work, we present some different cuboid-based morphologies of a typical ternary perovskite, sodium niobate (NaNbO(3)) under the control of two different bidentate organics, i.e. glycol and ethylenediamine (EDA) through a simple hydrothermal approach. Based on the volumetric variation of these organics and the change of alkalinity of reaction solutions, NaNbO(3) microcrystals with different morphologies are obtained. The polymorphology of NaNbO(3) microcrystals can be attributed to the different ending groups in glycol and EDA molecules. This bidentate organics assisted strategy is considered a general approach to modulate morphologies of perovskite microstructures especially for niobates. (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
