Titanium enjoys 30 years of successful service
Titanium, said to be the ninth-most abundant element in Earth's crust, was also found in rocks collected by Apollo 17 and is prominent in the spectra of M-type stars. Military use brought down the metal's manufacturing costs and cleared the way for new commercial applications. The principal use of titanium in power plants for more than 30 years has been in condensers, where the material's strengths are put to the test. Careful consideration of titanium's characteristics will ensure that your new condenser or retubing will last another 30 years.
