Polymer-Dispersed Liquid-Crystal Materials Prepared by Electron-Beam-Initiated Polymerization
Polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films were prepared using electron beam radiation by a polymerization-induced phase separation process. The composite material was obtained from a blend including a polyester acrylate and the nematic liquid crystal mixture E7. The electro-optic properties of the PDLC films were investigated as a function of film thickness. The obtained transmission vs. voltage curves exhibit a good reproducibility, low threshold voltages, and a high transmission in the on state.
