Hydroisomerization of n-hexane over Pd-containing zeolites of different types
The catalytic properties of Pd-containing zeolites of L, beta, and ZSM-5 types with different compositions of active sites were studied in hydroisomerization reactions. It was shown that the hydroconversion of n-hexane on the Pd-containing zeolite catalysts follows the same mechanism regardless of the zeolite type, composition of active centers, and concentration of metal introduced. The selectivity for hexane isomers is determined by the molecular-sieving effect and the reactant conversion degree, which in turn depends on the technological parameters of the reaction and the ratio of the acidic and hydrogenation-dehydrogenation functions of the catalyst. It was concluded that the effective concentration of reactants inside zeolite crystals can significantly differ from that outside the zeolite crystal.
