The literature on oxidation of various organic sulfur compounds with vanadium peroxo complexes for the last 15 years is surveyed and summarized. Whenever possible, vanadium peroxo complexes are compared with compounds of other d(0) metals, such as Ti(IV), Mo(VI), and W(VI).
