Synthesis of oligooctene and oligodecene oils in the presence of chloroaluminate ionic liquids
The results of the quality assessment of poly-alpha-olefin lubricating oils are presented. The oils were prepared via the oligomerization of octene-1 and decene-1 in the presence of chloroaluminate ionic liquids, which are characterized by high selectivity, low consumption, and good regenerating ability. The viscosity temperature, lubricating, and antioxidant properties and the volatility of the oils were studied. No double bonds were found in the oils by IR spectroscopy; hence, there is no need for their hydrostabilization. A possibility to prepare semisynthetic motor and industrial base oils of wide assortment is shown.
