Post-stripping processes and the landscape of mined areas in Estonian oil shale open casts
The present study describes creating a digital map of oil shale surface mining technology and evaluating mining influences on the landscape. The data from rite digital map of the Sirgala open cast shell, a constant increase in the overburden thickness. Overburden material thickness influences directly the future landscape but it also sets limits to stripping equipment parameters and productivity. The present open cast landscape tvas divided into four classes. afforested area, area with poor vegetation, graded area, and spoils.
