A global approach for reducing risks in hydrogenation operations
Pfizer API manufacturing consists of 16 sites around the world and represents a large manufacturing capability. This network has expanded in recent years through mergers. This community of manufacturing sites represents a wide range of practical knowledge for conducting safe API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) manufacturing. Taking advantage of this operations performed a global survey of hydrogenation current practices. From the information gathered a "Hydrogen and Catalyst and Handling Good Practice" guide was developed that covered the facility design and operational practices . The team that developed the "Good Practice" guide is also involved in overseeing the implementation of the recommended practices at all manufacturing sites conducting hydrogenations.
