Metal-Fluorocarbon Pyrolants: X. Influence of Ferric Oxide/Silicon Additive on Burn Rate and Radiometric Performance of Magnesium/Teflon/Viton (R) (MTV)
Both burn rate, u (mm s(-1)) and mass consumption rate, (m) over dot (g s(-1) cm(-2)) of fuel rich magnesium/Teflon/Viton (R) (MTV) (45/50/5) upon addition of silicon/ferric oxide for part of the PTFE decrease by 16 and 11%, respectively. However, the spectral efficiency E(beta) (J g(-1) sr(-1)) increases by 24% in the 3-5 mu m band.
