Hydroxy and hydroxymethoxy derivatives were obtained from epoxidized rape seed oil by opening of the epoxy ring. Their application In lubricants is limited (in comparison with dimers and estolides) because of very high viscosity. They may be used as raw materials or additives for syntheses of resins due to the presence of some functional groups.
