Progress in the polish CYCLOPOL process involving purification of cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol
In the original CYCLOPOL process, cyclohexane was oxidized in the liquid phase to yield cyclohexane and cyclohexanone (96-97% KA-Oil) which were recovered from the KA-Oil by distillation in a system comprising four columns. One more column added to the system and treatment of cyclohexanone with aq. 20% NaOH allowed to reduce the impurity level in cyclohexanol from 21 to 1.8% and to raise the purity of cyclohexanone from 99.7 to 99.96%. The permanganate number of the cyclohexanone was higher than 250. The modification did not increase the energy consumption by the system.
