Nanotechnology and polymeric nano-composites
A review with 60 refs. covering synthesis of colloidal particles, nano-powders, plasma-driven production of carbon black containing fullerenes and nano-tubes, nano-dispersions and polymeric nano-composites including Author's and his Collaborators' own studies on enhancing the degree of dispersion of SiO2 in elastomers, e.g., in NBR copolymers, by synthesis of SiO2 in situ from alkoxysilanes, on expanding the range of acids (used to modify whitings) by including acids containing amino, hydroxyl or unsaturated functional groups, on increasing the degree of dispersion of ZnO by depositing ZnO on a 175-m(2)/g colloidal silica to be used to crosslink NBR, on forming nano-dispersed salts of unsaturated (e.g., itaconic) acids with metal alkoxides in ethylene-propylene rubber to co-stimulate peroxide crosslinking of elastomers, and on intercalation of montmorillonite with aliphatic (e.g., octadecyl) amine hydrochlorides.
