Synthesis of carbo-functional propltri(alkoxy, methyl)silanes
A review covering propyltri(alkoxy, methyl)silanes, Y(CH2)(3)SiMen(OR)(3-n) (Y = NH2, NHCH2CH2CH2, SH, CH2=C(CH3)COO, CNO etc., R = alkyl), a new group of siiane coupling agents (n = 1), polymer network modifiers, or reactants for making organo-functionalized disiloxanes (n = 2), which are prepared in three steps involving (1) catalyzed hydrosilylation of allyl chloride with (alkyl, chloro)silanes to yield chloropropyl(alkyl, chloro)silanes; (ii) hydrolysis of adducts; (iii) optional nucleophilic substitution of the Cl atom in chloropropylsilane CI(CH2)(3)Si-Me(OR)(3-n) with an organic functional group. This route gave methacryloxysilane CH2=C(CH3)C(O)O(CH2)(3)SiMe(OCH3)(2) and aminosilane H2NCH2CH2NH(CH2)(3)SiMe(OCH3)(2) in 84 and 95% yields, resp.
