Determination of gas explosion parameters under turbulent conditions
A 22-L spherical reactor equipped with a central 1-J electric spark igniter, was used to register pressure vs. time curves, to establish explosion pressures, pressure rise rates, and duration of explosions for the exploding mixtures of air with methane, propane, hydrogen, CO, methane(55.8 vol%)-ammonia, and MeOH vapors. These data were used to evaluate the material constant (Zabetakis "cubic law"), turbulence index, the average flame propagation rate, and the combustion rates under steady-state and under turbulent, close-to-stoichiometric conditions.
