A review with 23 refs. covering preparation of pigments on inorganic substrates with particular reference to the modification of adsorbents by coupling agents like aminosilanes and to the adsorption of organic dyes on modified inorganic powders. Aminoureidosilane-modified silica and silicate surfaces were suggested for the adsorption of organic dyes. The resulting hybrid systems showed color stability and homogeneous silica particle size. As the amount of the modifier was increased, pigment intensity rose.
