Studies on potential use of urea for isolation of KVO3 and NaVO3 from post-reaction mixtures
Solubility isotherms were measured for NaVO3 and CO(NH2)(2) in the NaVO3-CO(NH2)(2)-H2O system and for KVO3 and CO(NH2)(2) in the KVO3-CO(NH2)(2)-H2O system at 303 and 323 K. Single eutonic points were determined. NaVO3 was found to be salted out by urea. The solubility data were used to construct polytherm sections in the resp. systems. Results will help to conclude about the use of urea for isolation of pure MeVO3 (Me = K or Na) from mixtures left from the reactions 2MeCl + V2O5 + 0.5O(2) (or H2Osteam) --> 2 MeVO3 + Cl-2 (or 2 HCl).
