Poly(urethane-urea)s based on the oligo-carbonate-diols prepared by the use of ethylene carbonate
Oligo-carbonate-diols, prepared over no tin nor bio-adverse catalysts, were used to make polyurethanes intended for biomedical applications. The urethane prepolymers prepared from oligo-urethane-diols, cured with water, yielded poly(urethane-urea) elastomers which exhibited high mechanical strength (tensile strength > 40 MPa, at 325% elongation) and low absorption of water (0.13%).
