The energetics and economics of extractive fermentation of ethanol
Mass and energy balance presented for extractive fermentation of EtOH showed the overall consumption of heat to be cut by 25% (vs. the classical installation's 29.5 MJ/kg), with fermentation efficiency assumed to be 90%, mainly on account of the lesser consumption of energy used to de-water the stillage.
