A review with 22 refs. covering the use of airlift reactors in the precipitation of synthetic silica, catalyzed reactions like hydrogenation of fats (3-phase system), biodegradation (PhOH, CH2Cl2) with bacteria immobilized on, e.g. active C, particles fluidized in an inverse bed in the downcomer (biodegradation of ketones).
