Computerized techniques were presented to solve technological problems by reference to the mathematical model of a chemical process. The procedure was exemplified by an optimization of selected industrial plants in a big petroleum refinery (management of wastewater treatment, controlling polymerization of ethylene, selection of feedstocks for cracking).
