The measurement of mixing power in vibrating mixers
A flat-bottomed mixer driven by a d.c. motor, equipped with a (non)perforated 170-mm disk, was used to mix aq. 50% glycerol, 1,2-ethanediol or H2O. A elec. set was devised to measure transient voltages and intensities, and hence the av. mixing power. The Euler and the Reynolds nos. were evaluated and the laminar, transition, and turbulent How zones are shown graphically.
