Experimental establishment of optimum parameters for the synthesis of KVO3 from V2O5 and KCI in the presence of atmospheric oxygen
At 873 K, the reaction 4KCl + 2 V2O5 + O-2 = 4 KVO3 + 2Cl(2) gave KVO3 in 59.44% yield in 4 h at air flow rate 181.5 cm(3)/min and KCl used in 50% excess over V2O5. Quartz sand, 0.25-0.355 mm, added as a reaction mixt. carrier, 100% of the overall reaction mass, raised the yield to 89.08%.
