CYCLOPOL-bis - the second youth of the Polish process for oxidation of cyclohexane
An extensive review with 42 refs. covering nearly 20 years of studies undertaken to develop a new cyclohexane oxidation process, provisionally named CYCLOPOL-bis (considerably advancing former CYCLOPOL (R) technology), put on stream in 2003, distinguished by significantly higher selectivity (equivalent to 1015 kg C6H6/ton cyclohexanone) andsafety, run in two stages involving two reactors, with the decompn. of cyclohexyl peroxide (2(nd) stage) carried out at mild temp. (85 degrees C) and near atm. pressure. The research work was based on the synergy of chemical process knowledge and chemical reaction engineering.
